Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Stroke survivors able to walk on a level surface and walk up and down stairs independently with or without cane. Dorsiflexor muscle strength Hemodynamically stable.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Any musculoskeletal injuries to the lower limb that interferes with walking. Local infections, open wounds on the leg and foot region affecting AFO application. Spasticity of plantarflexors, more than 1+ grade on the Modified Ashworth Scale. Cardiovascular problems

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
Gait velocity m/sTimepoint: The patient will be videographed while walking with & without PLS AFO on variable surfaces and the Gait velocity will be measured by analyzing the video

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
1. Physiological Cost Index 2. Double Limb Support time 3. Swing Duration Timepoint: 1. The Physiological Cost Index will be evaluated after walking with & without PLS AFO on variable surfaces. 2 & 3. The patient will be videographed while walking with & without PLS AFO on variable surfaces and the secondary outcome measures such as Double Limb Support time and Swing Duration will be measured by analyzing the video.
