Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: This study will be conducted in a total of 80 pre-eclamptic parturients, with singleton pregnancy, taken up for non elective cesarean delivery under spinal anaesthesia

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: - Any contraindication to spinal anaesthesia - Gestation below 32 weeks - Local or generalized sepsis - Twin pregnancy - Presence of hyperuricemia before pregnancy - Pre existing heart disease, liver or renal disorders - Pre existing or gestational diabetes mellitus and chronic hypertension - Pre-eclampsia parturients who are on therapeutic doses of magnesium sulphate for severe features - Patient refusal

MeasureTime frame
1.The incidence of post-spinal hypotension (fall of more than 20% of MAP from baseline values) in pre-eclamptic parturients with raised serum uric acid levels.Timepoint: non-invasive blood pressure (NIBP) will be taken at 1-min interval till the birth of the baby and then every 5 minutes

1. Total amount of vasopressor administered to maintain targeted MAP 2. Episodes of hypotension 3. Adverse effects like intraoperative nausea / vomiting 4. Short term neonatal outcome 5. maternal blood loss Timepoint: 1. Total amount of vasopressor- before delivery of the baby 2. Episodes of hypotension following administration of spinal anesthesia upto the time of uterine incision. 3. Adverse effects like intraoperative nausea / vomiting - throughout the perioperative period 4. Short term neonatal outcome: 1 and 5 minute Apgar score, 5. maternal blood loss - intraoperative period
