Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: patients scheduled for elective thyroid surgery

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. ASA III or more 2. Patients with psychiatric disorder 3. Preexisting neurological disease affecting vocal cord functions

Tissue displacement velocity in the vibrating section of vocal foldTimepoint: 5 minutes, 2 hours and 2 days after completion of surgery

MeasureTime frame
Pulsed Doppler and Doppler gate to quantify tissue displacement velocity in the vibrating section of vocal fold. 2. Adduction of vocal cords during valsalva maneuver and coughing. 3. The relative height of arytenoids Timepoint: immediately after surgery and after 2 days
