Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: American society of anaesthesiology(ASA) 1 and 2 patients undergoing total mastectomy with axillary clearance.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: >ASA 3 patients Local infection Coagulopathy Body mass index (BMI) >40 Local anaesthetic allergy Uncontrolled hypertension or Ischemic heart disease Renal dysfunction Pre-existing neurological deficits Psychiatric illness Patient refusal

MeasureTime frame
1. Postoperative pain scores at 0, 0.5, 1, 2, 4, 6, 8, 12 and 24 hours. 2. Total analgesic consumption in 24 hours. 3. Adverse effects. Timepoint: 0, 0.5, 1, 2, 4, 6, 8, 12 AND 24 hours.

Primary outcome of the study was to compare the duration of analgesia (Time to first rescue analgesia after giving the block )Timepoint: Hemodynamic variables (Heart rate, systolic blood pressure, diastolic blood pressure, mean arterial pressure and oxygen saturation) were recorded at 1. Baseline 2. Time of block 3. Every 5 mins after the block till pre-induction 4. Pre-induction of patient 5. Post-induction of patient 6. Post-intubation of patient 7. At skin incision 8. 5, 10, 15 mins and every 15mins till the end of surgery 9. Numeric rating scale of pain at 0, 0.5, 1, 2, 4, 6, 8, 12, 24 hours
