Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: As per Definition of Type 2 Respiratory Failure • pH • Hypoxia- PaO2 • Hypercapnia- PaC02 > 45 MM OF HG • RR >30/min or • Patients with type 2 respiratory failure started on NIV as per physicianâ??s decision are also included in the study.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: • Hemodynamic and cardiac instability (Hypotension BP • Pneumothorax • Need for intubation to protect airways • Impending respiratory arrest • Facial deformity/trauma • Hypersensitivity to mask material • Claustrophobia • Upper airway obstruction • Severe GI bleed
