Conditions

Health Condition 1: null- 60 ASA I and II patients, age 18 to 65 years ,patients undergoing transsphenoidal pituitary surgeries under general anaesthesia with surgical time 60mins,preoperative GCS level 15/15.

Interventions

Intervention1: sevoflurane: sevoflurane (1.5-2% end tidal) adjusted to Minimum Alveolar Concentration (MAC) 1.2 to 1.4 continuously during anaesthesia maintenance till end of surgery. Route: Inhalatio

Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 60 ASA I and II patients, patients undergoing transsphenoidal pituitary surgeries under general anaesthesia with surgical time

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1] all emergency cases, 2] Patients with uncontrolled hypertension 3] Ischaemic heart disease or cardiac arrhythmias 4] Hepatic or renal disease 5] severe pulmonary disease 6] pregnancy, 7] past history of allergy to study drugs, 8] chronic alcoholism/ drug abuse, 9] Serum potassium level >5.5 meq, 10] patients with raised intracranial pressure.

MeasureTime frame
To compare sevoflurane versus desflurane for intraoperative haemodynamics . Timepoint: Preoperative upto post extubation

MeasureTime frame
Post extubation agitation score and modified Aldrete score.Timepoint: 5mins, 15mins, 30 mins and 60 mins postextubation
