Intervention1: Etomidate: 2mg given intravenously every 10 sec till patient becomes unconscious and there is loss of response to verbal commands
Control Intervention1: Thiopentone sodium: 30 mg given

Eligibility
Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: 1. Diabetic patients 2. Age group 30- 65 years 3. Surgery under general anaesthesia
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: 1. Endocrine disorders 2. Renal disease 3. Hepatic disease 4. Pregnancy 5. Patients receiving steroids, beta blockers 6. Alcohol consumption 1 week before surgery
