Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: 1. Patients with chronic periodontitis having at least 3 periodontal sites with pocket depth 5mm to 8mm. 2. Patients without any history of drug allergy to chlorhexidine. 3. Patients not using any medicated toothpaste/ antibacterial mouthwash/ antibiotics or any anti-inflammatory drug before the commencement of the study for at least the past 3 months.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: 1. Pregnant and lactating females. 2. Patients with a history of any kind of periodontal therapy within past 6 months. 3. Medically compromised patients and patients having debilitating diseases.

| Both the drugs were equally effective not only in reducing plaque and gingival inflammation but also in reducing pocket depths and causing significant gain in attachment level as evident by the statistically significant reduction in all the parameters including PI, GI,PPD and RAL (probability value less than 0.001) and both the drugs were significantly more efficient than Scaling and root planing alone (SRP) alone as a therapy.Timepoint: baseline 1 month 3months | — |
