Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: •Age 18 yrs or more •Scheduled to visit the pre anaesthesia check clinic at Tata Memorial Hospital •Postoperative patients who have undergone surgery under anaesthesia at Tata Memorial Hospital prior to discharge from hospital

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: •Any patient under the age of 18 years •Patients who are not willing to participate in the study •Patients post head and neck surgery or any procedure that interferes with their ability to communicate eg. neurosurgery, need for elective postoperative intubation and /or ventilation, patients with tracheostomy. •Psychiatric patients, patients using psychoactive drugs •Patients who are unable to comprehend the questions (due to language barrier, etc.)

MeasureTime frame
Patientsâ?? knowledge and perceptions about anaesthesia and anaesthesiologists will be analyzed based on Descriptive Statistics (Mean, Median, Mode, Standard Deviation, Frequency Percentage). Comparison between Pre and Post operative patients will be done with Chi Square, Independent T- test as applicable.Timepoint: Outcome will be assessed after completion of sample size (200 patients)

Comparison of responses between pre operative and post operative patients to determine if peri operative management changes knowledge and perceptions towards anaesthesia and anaesthesiologists.Timepoint: Pre operatively in the pre anaesthesia check clinic and post operatively on post operative day 1.
