Health Condition 1: null- major depressive disorder

Interventions

Intervention1: Group 2-resisted exercise for 24 weeks along with antidepressant medication : intensity 50% of 10 Rm,75% of 10 Rm and 100% of 10 Rm frequency 4 times a week mode squatting, bench press

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1.Diagnosed with major depressive disorder according to ICD 10 2.A score of at least 13 on Hamilton depression rating scale at study entry. 3.Who can comprehend and understand English or Kannada. 4.Receiving treatment as outpatients in selected hospitals in Dakshina kannada. 5.Present during the period of data collection 6.No medical contraindication to exercise. 7.Not already participating in exercise.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1.Patients diagnosed with other psychiatric illness other than depression 2.Cardiac diseases, bones and joints pathology. 3.Alcohol or substance abuse 4.Acute infectious diseases 5.Depressive patients with suicide risk
