Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Body mass index (BMI) > 85th centile for age and gender as per Indian charts Resident of Delhi/ NCR Motivated and willing for regular follow-up and compliance with advice

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Secondary obesity (chromosomal/ syndromic/ endocrine/ medication related) 2. Enrolled in a systematic weight loss/ dietary modification/ physical activity program 3. Already practicing yoga regularly ( > 2 times/ week for > 2 weeks) 4. Diagnosed case of diabetes/ familial dyslipidemia/ secondary (non-essential) hypertension 5. Any chronic medical illness that may impair ability to comply with yoga/ lifestyle modification 6. Any complication of obesity for which medications are needed (e.g., stage II hypertension), severe insulin resistance 7. Neither of the parent willing to participate in the study along with the child

MeasureTime frame
To compare the change in BMI from among 3 groups of overweight children/ adolescents, one managed with counselling on diet and lifestyle modification and advice regarding physical activity (Group 1: Standard Weight Management Group), second, with training in yoga, in addition to all of the above (Group 2: Comprehensive Yoga Program Group), and the third as control (or waitlist) group (Group 3: Control), with no specific dietary/ lifestyle advice or intervention.Timepoint: 18 weeks
