Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: ASA grade I, II and III patients undergoing standard posterolateral thoracotomy

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Refusal of consent 2. Contra-indication to epidural 3. Contra-indication to any of the study drugs (lignocaine, bupivacaine, fentanyl, diclofenac, paracetamol) 4. Additional surgical incisions during the same sitting (except mediastinoscopy) 5. Previous thoracotomy/ thoracoscopy 6. Use of pain medications in the pre-operative period
