Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Babies admitted at FMMCH during the study period will be the study population. Birth weight less than 2500gm will be termed low birth weight according to WHO definition.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Age >24 hours Babies with congenital anomaly involving upper limb, lower limbs.

1. To measure and record the anthropometric measurements - midarm, midthigh, mid calf circumference in new born. 2. To determine the critical limit of midarm, midthigh and midcalf circumference in detecting low birth weight. Timepoint: midarm, midcalf, midthigh circumference-centimeter birthweight-gram

1. To identify the reliable anthropometric measurement in detecting low birth weight. Timepoint: midarm, midcalf,midthigh circumference-centimeter Birth weight-gram are measured before 24 hours of life
