Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: All non-high risk women at term pregnancy (37 to 40 weeks of gestation) who delivered vaginally. Ready to give written and informed consent

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Placental disorders-abruption placentae/ marginal placenta previa/low lying placenta. malpresentation, instrumental delivery,grand multipara,prvious uterine scar,rh negative pregnancy,liquor abnormalities/chorioamnionitis,coagulation disorders,medical disorders-anaemia/diabetes/hypertension/heart disease asthma , epilepsy.

MeasureTime frame
1. To measure amount of blood lossTimepoint: 1. At the time of blood loss more than 500 ml

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
1.Duration of third stage of labor 2.Change in hematocrit from predelivery to 24 hour postpartum 3.Need for administration of other uterotonics and blood transfusion. 4.Side effects and complications within 24 hour.Timepoint: 1.Duration of third stage more than 6 min 2.Fall in hematocrit 3.Additional use of other uterotonics. 4. Side effects like nausea, hypertension, shivering,diarrhea.
