Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Group1.Children aged 1-15 years, admitted with fever and malaria test positive. Group2. Children aged 1-15 years (apparently normal- controls)

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Children 15 years 2. Children with debilitating illnesses 3. Children with coexisting other illnesses like diarrhea ,pneumonia. 4. Children who have received zinc, multivitamin preparations containing zinc or iron supplementation in the past one month.
