Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. Patients advised any of the following types of surgery: o Endodontic surgery (root canal opening procedure for incisors, canine, pre-molar or molar teeth) o Periodontal surgery (flap surgery, gingival surgery) 2. First time any surgical procedure or anesthesia 3. Baseline VAS-A (visual analogue scale - Anxiety) score of 4 or more 4. Provide written informed consent 5. Willing and able to understand and comply with all study requirements

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Use of other anxiety drugs during preceding one week 2. Use of psychoactive drugs or glucocorticosteroids during preceding one week 3. Emergency cases 4. Pregnant and lactating women 5. Non-vital tooth (for root canal opening surgery only) 6. Past history of anesthesia for dental procedures 7. History of allergy to local anesthetics and antianxiety drugs 8. Any condition which could interfere with the administration of â??Yogic relaxation techniquesâ?? 9. Patients with systemic illnesses (i.e., diabetes mellitus, cancer, human immunodeficiency syndrome, bone metabolic diseases, or disorders that compromise wound healing, radiation, or immunosuppressive therapy) 10. Any other condition, which in the opinion of the clinician/investigator, could interfere significantly with the treatment and assessment process 11. Not willing to provide written informed consent
