Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: all children between 6 months and five years hospitalized with severe dehydration due to acute watery diarrhea

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: malnourished children children presenting with septic shock children who cannot be fed orally due to persistent vomiting/ unconsciousness/seizures children who received antibiotic/antimotility agent prior to hospitalization
