Design outcomes
Primary
| Measure | Time frame |
|---|---|
| accuracy of estimated depth of insertion of the catheter for right IJV central venous cannulationTimepoint: post procedure once chest X-ray is obtained | — |
Secondary
| Measure | Time frame |
|---|---|
| angulation of catheter tip from the superior vena caval wallTimepoint: post -procedure once chest X-ray is obtained;correlation between neck circumference and inserted depth of central venous catheterTimepoint: neck circumference measured pre -procedure and depth of insertion determined during procedure, correlation determined at time of statistical analysis;correlation between neck length(taken as the distance between inion and C7 vertebral spine) and the inserted depth of central venous catheterTimepoint: neck length measured pre -procedure and depth of insertion determined during procedure, correlation determined at time of statistical analysis;malpositioning of central venous catheterTimepoint: post procedure once chest X-ray is obtained | — |
