Conditions

Health Condition 1: null- Severely Malnourished children between six months to 60 months not having any chronic illness except HIV and TB

Intervention1: Ready to Use Therapeutic Food: Medical nutrition therapy consist of Peanut butter, skimmed milk powder, soya bean oil, sugar, micronutritient mix providing 540kcal and 15gm proteins. Or

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Children between 6 months to 5 yrs referred to OPD &/or admitted with SAM as per one of the 3 criteria (WHO) W/H < -3 SD,MUAC < 11.5 cm or Bilateral Pedal edema

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1.Children with chronic illnesses 2.Inability to take orally 3.Children already on any nutritional supplements

1 To compare the rate of weight gain (gms/kg/day)at the end of 2 weeks 8 weeks and 6 months from time of enrollment 2 To determine the proportion of children who achieve target weight within 2 weeks weeks and at 6 months. 3 To determine the number of infection episodes at 6 months Timepoint: 8 weeks
