Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 80 ASA Grade â?? I/II patients of either sex in the age group of 20 to 60 years admitted for head and neck cancer surgeries expected to last at least 2 hours under general anesthesia.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: • Those posted for emergency surgery • With known hepatic disease • Who had renal disease • With known or clinical hypothyroidism or hyperthyroidism • With known allergy to drugs used in the study • With BMI 30kg/m2

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
degree of hypothermia ( both core and surface) during surgeryTimepoint: the temperature will be monitored continuously and recorded every 5 minute till the end of surgery

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
1. hemodynamic parameters (HR, ECG, DBP, SBP and MBP) w 2. Acid base balance and blood glucose will be recorded in the preoperative period and hourly till the end of surgery. 3. Blood urea nitrogen and serum proteins (total, albumin and globulin) will be recoded Preinduction, at the end of surgery and 24 hour postoperatively.Timepoint: 1. hemodynamic parameters: ill be recorded every 5 minutes till the end of surgery. 2.
