Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Inclusion Criteria for the Experimental Group : 1.Spouses of patents with alcohol dependence syndrome as per ICD-10 criteria. 2.Spouses of age between 18-60 years. 3.Persons who give consent for the study

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Exclusion Criteria for the Experimental Group : 1.Persons with any chronic lifestyle modifying illness like Diabetes Mellitus, Hypertension. 2.Persons with any history of substance abuse. 3.Persons with any psychiatric disorders. 4.Persons with any major medical illness. 5.Persons suffering from neurodegenerative diseases and with family history of neurodegenerative diseases in first degree relatives.

Primary

MeasureTime frame
A total 30 number of spouses selected will be evaluated based on following scales to estimate the cognitive functions:- a) Standardized Mini Mental State Examination (SMMSE) b) Trail Making Test B c) Digit Symbol Substitution TestTimepoint: From October 2013 to January 2014

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
Assessment of alcohol dependence is done as per ICD-10 criteria and socio-economic status is assessed as per Kuppuswamy scaleTimepoint: 1 time point
