Intervention1: ketamine: ketamine and midazolam loading dose 0.25mg/kg and 10 micrograms/kg bolus respectively over 10 minutes in immediate postoperative period followed by 0.25mg/kg/hr and 10 microgr

Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: ASA 1 and 11 patients undegoing elective thoracic or lumbar spine surgery

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: hypertention, coronary artery desease, cardiac arrythmia, on alpha 2 agonist, morbid obesity, planned for elective postoperative mechanical ventilation, pregnant , breast feeding, history of heart block, heart rate <60. on beta blocker
