Intervention1: 100% oxygen, oxygen air mixture 50:50, oxygen nitrous oxide mixture 50:50: the mixtures of different gases were aspirated in the syringes from common gas outlet of the anesthesia machin

Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: a) Above 18 years b) General anaesthesia with proseal LMA (PLMA) c) Duration of anaesthesia >= 30 minutes

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: a) Recent history of upper respiratory tract infection b) Contraindication to the use of LMA such as symptomatic hiatus hernia, or severe gastroesophageal reflux disease. C) Preoperative nerve palsy.

To evaluate the changes in LMA cuff pressure with general anaesthesia using O2 : N2O anaesthesia with different gases used to inflate the LMA cuffTimepoint: from the start of nitrous oxide till the nitrous oxide will be switched off i.e. from the start of surgery till the end of surgery

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
1 To evaluate the changes in patientâ??s ventilatory parameters as tidal volume (insp/exp), respiratory rate, inspiratory peak airway pressure and EtCO2 with change in LMA cuff pressure. 2 To evaluate the incidence of pharyngolaryngeal morbidities i.e. sore throat, dysphagia, dysphonia, nerve palsies with changes in LMA cuff pressure. Timepoint: 1. from the start of surgery till the end of surgery 2. from the end of surgery till 24 hours postoperative period
