Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Inclusion: Adult patients ( >18 years of age) presenting to the preanaesthesia check (PAC) OPD on their first visit for elective cancer surgeries.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Exclusion 1. Patients unable to give history e.g. those with learning disability, language barrier 2. Patients likely to benefit from extended workup will also be excluded: - Patients with significant or severe disease that limits normal activity with significant impact on daily activity ( ASA status III and above) - Effort tolerance 2 flights of stairs - Patient requiring specialist consultation for comorbid conditions - High risk supramajor surgeries viz. Whippleâ??s procedure, eosophagectomy, lung resection surgery, pelvic orthopaedic surgery, tumours involving extensive dissection and / or major fluid shifts

The primary outcome will be number of routine investigations leading to change in managementTimepoint: day of surgery

The other variables analysed will be 1. Number of â??routineâ?? investigations per patient 2. Number of â??Targetedâ?? investigations yielding abnormal results 3. Number of â??routineâ?? investigations yielding abnormal results 4. Number of abnormal â??routineâ?? results leading to change in management 5. Number of â??missedâ?? investigations yielding abnormal results 6. Number of abnormal â??routineâ?? results which may have led to postponement 7. Cost of routine investigations Timepoint: day of surgery
