Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: - Patient presenting with upper gastrointestinal bleeding with portal hypertension diagnosed by clinical, biochemical, radiological investigation and presence of esophageal varices confirmed on endoscopy. - First episode of variceal bleed. - Age 13 years and above. - Patient undergoing endoscopic therapy.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: - Concomitant gastric varices or any other additional upper gastrointestinal source of bleed - Hepatocellular carcinoma / any other malignancy - Debilitating illness like cerebro vascular accident, severe ischemic heart disease - Use of vasoactive medicines & endoscopic therapy before being referred to our hospital
