Health Condition 1: null- Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus patients uncontrolled with metformin and sulfonylureas

Interventions

Intervention1: Pioglitazone 30 mg/day : Patients were given Pioglitazone 30 mg/day plus the drugs (metformin and sulfonlyureas) which they were taking already. The patients were followed for 12 weeks

Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Type 2 DM, taking a combination of metformin + sulfonylurea (glibenclamide or glipizide or gliclazide or glimepride) for at least last 3 months with HbA1c >7% 25 kg/m2, FBS >126 mg/dl

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Pregnant and lactating females, patients on insulin therapy, history of type 1 DM, evidence of diabetic complications (nephropathy, neuropathy and retinopathy), patients with clinical signs and symptoms of acute myocardial infarction, liver failure, chronic heart failure and renal failure
