Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1) Patients aged 18-35 years with teeth having deep, class I carious lesions 2) Presence of abnormal sensitivity to cold. 3) Teeth with normal apical periradicular tissues as evident on radiograph, i.e. intact lamina-dura and periodontal ligament space. 4) Patients with no clinical signs and symptoms of irreversible pulpitis or necrotic pulp, i.e. No history of spontaneous or severe throbbing pain, increased pain in lying down position at night etc. 5) Patients presenting a good state of general health and absence of any chronic systemic disease.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1) Poor periodontal health. 2) Caries involving multiple surfaces of teeth 3) Abnormal prolonged sensitivity to both hot and cold. 4) History of traumatic dental injury. 5) Patient not willing to be included in the study. Mid-treatment exclusion criteria- 1) Temporary restoration dislodged during follow up. 2) Tooth fracture during follow up. 3) Patients with symptoms of irreversible pulpitis during follow up. 4) Pulpal exposure during caries removal

Clinical 1) Absence of spontaneous pain and/or sensitivity to percussion. 2) Absence of fistula/swelling. 3) Absence of pathological mobility. Radiographical 1) Absence of radiolucency at the inter-radicular and/or periapical regions. 2) Absence of increase in periodontal ligament space. 3) Absence of internal/external dentin resorption Timepoint: 6 months
