Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: All consenting individuals who are above the age of 35 years residing permanently in the study area.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Individuals with a past history of any cardiovascular event.

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
a)Improved adherence to pharmacological therapy (measured as a continuous measure of total number of medications received in a day). b)Reduction in INTERHEART risk score Timepoint: 12 months and 18 months

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
a)Reduction in systolic blood pressure so that an optimal control is achieved (systolic BP of 140mm Hg or less) b)Reduction in waist-hip ratio and body mass index of 0.02 and 1.2kg/m2 respectively.Timepoint: One year
