Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. Patients having Kushtha (psoriasis) since more than 1 year and characterized by presence of minimum 4 signs and symptoms of the following a) Aswedana (thick skin lesion in which there is no perspiration) b) Mahavastu (occupying the large surface area i.e. more than 5 cm2) C) Matsyashaklopam (scales are similar to that of a fish) d) Shyava/Aasita varna (color other than normal Kinikhar sparsha (Granular in appearance and touch) e) Parusha tvak (dry and rough to touch) 2. Patients willing to give written informed consent and agree to follow the study procedure.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Patient with gross involvement of Tri-marma (3 marmas are Shira (Head), Basti (Bladder), Hridaya (heart). It reflects the disorders of psychiatric or neurological, cardiac, hepatic & renal origin) 2. Garbhini and Sutika (in women of child bearing age, urine pregnancy test will be performed to rule out pregnancy) 3. Patient suffering from debilitating disorders such as urahkshata (chest injury), kshataksheena (emaciation resulting from injury) and rajyakshma (features of tuberculosis) 4. Patient with presence of ama in the body viz. nava pratishyaya (acute rhinitis), nava jvara (within 7 days of Fever ) etc. 5. Patient suffering from gudaj vikar like kshatguda (anal injury), muktanal (anal incontinence), adhog raktapitta (condition where there is bleeding in downward direction i.e. anal bleeding either of systemic or local origin) 6. Patient who has experienced panchakarma vyapada (unwanted effects/ complications previously) 7. Patient who has received any of the panchakarma procedure in last 2 months 8. Patient suffering from any of the following disorders contraindicated for Virechan i. Shalyardit (foreign material inside the body) ii. Abhihata (Injured)
