Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Adult patients with simple, uncomplicated, unilateral or bilateral inguinal hernia with an American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) score 1 or 2 only were included.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Patients with history of previous surgery in the inguino-scrotal region, recurrent inguinal hernia, complicated hernia, hydrocele, epididymitis, history of orchiectomy and female patients were excluded from the study. Patients with significant co-morbidities like coronary artery disease, uncontrolled hypertension and diabetes mellitus, chronic bronchitis, renal and hepatic failure, unfit for general anesthesia (ASA 3 or 4) and uncontrolled coagulopathy were also excluded from the study. Patients who were not willing to participate in the study were excluded from the study
