Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: Adult patients of ASA grade 1 and 2 status undergoing pulmonary lobectomy or pneumonectomy by open technique
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: • Patients undergoing non-anatomical lung resections like wedge resections or metastatectomies • Patients who have received neoadjuvant radiotherapy to the lung • Unreliable for medium term follow-up • Patients with permanent tracheostomies • Patients with oro-facial anomalies (unable to perform spirometry) • Lower limb amputations / abnormalities (e.g. arthritis) - unable to perform 6 minute walk test • Thoracoscopic resections • Patients undergoing repeat surgeries of the thorax or lower limb before the 3 month follow up (e.g. re-exploration, metastatectomy)
