Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: • Patient with histological diagnosis of squamous cell carcinoma of oral cavity • Early tumor stage (T1/T2) • Should undergo surgery at TMH/ACTREC as first line curative modaliy • No prior history of chemotherapy and radiotherapy • No history of similar illness in the past

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: o Any previous cancer directed treatment or surgical excision o Scanty or no tumor tissue remaining after optimal histopathological evaluation o Poor expected compliance for standard treatment and follow up

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
o To identify a panel of genes that can accurately predict cervical lymphnode metastasis in OSCC o Validate existing gene signatures and generate a limited number gene set with good predictive accuracy Timepoint: Micro array and Q-PCR will be performed after the end of patient recruitment. This will take approximately 18 months after the start of recruitment.
