Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: For Group 1- Newly diagnosed PCOS For group 2- Normally cycling BMI matched

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: For Group 1- Any other known cause of amenorrhea Taking concomitant medication for PCOS Known hypersensitivity to Metformin Chronic heart, pulmonary, kidney, liver disease Uncontrolled diabetes with possibility of DKA For Group 2- Any chronic systemic illness

a) To compare Leptin concentration in PCOS patients with BMI controlled normally cycling healthy women. b) To correlate serum Leptin level with clinical and biochemical indicators of PCOS patients Timepoint: 3 months

To evaluate effect of Metformin on Leptin level in PCOS patients.Timepoint: 3 months
