Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Attending antenatal clinic in CSMMU, and in 14 to 20 weeks of pregnancy.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: chronic liver disease, renal disease or treatment with antitubercular or antiepileptic drugs or vitamin D in the previous 3 months.

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
Maternal serum 25OHD.Timepoint: At 8 weeks of first dose of vitamin D, and at delivery.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
Birth weight, length, head circumference and anterior fontanelle diameter.Timepoint: At birth.;Cord serum 25OHD.Timepoint: At delivery.;Neonatal serum calcium.Timepoint: Age of 2 to 4 days.
