Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: Patients referred for nephrology consultation meeting following criteria will be eligible for inclusion: • Patients of either sex more than 12 years of age willing to consent • Patients with threefold increase in the serum creatinine or GFR decrease by 75 percent or urine output of
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: • Patients needing emergency dialysis which will include: -Refractory fluid overload -Hyperkalemia >6mEq/l unresponsive to medical management -Signs of uremia, such as pericarditis, neuropathy, or an otherwise unexplained decline in mental status -Metabolic acidosis (pH less than 7.1) • Patient under 12 years of age • Unwilling to consent
