Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: A)Able to speak and comprehend Telugu and/or English B)Married couples who were living together with one spouse diagnosed to have anxiety disorder. Patients diagnosed as having anxiety disorders based on the WHO ICD-10 Classification (F 40 to F 42). Patients with anxiety disorders and marital discord were included for the study (score of more than 80 on the marital quality scale). C)Aged between 20 to 55 years D)Patients having a minimum education of 7th standard E)Patients willing to participate F)Spouse willing to participate

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: A)Patients and spouses having any major co-existing physical illness, mental retardation, severe psychotic illness, severe disabling medical illness or substance abuse and severe depression (severe depression was identified using the Beck Depression Inventory-score above 30). B) Patient had previously undergone individual or marital therapy
