Interventions

Intervention1: VIJAYASAR (Pterocarpus marsupium): The starting daily dose will be 3g for 2 weeks. At week 2, if plasma glucose is not controlled, the daily dose will be increased to 4g for the next 2

Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Mono therapy ? Metformin or Sulfoyluria Plasma glucose Fasting Age 40 to 65 years

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Exclusion BMI <19; Nephropathy (serum creatinine >2.5); retinopathy, significant CNS, sever cardiovascular complication; impaired liver functions ( SGPT>60); ketonuria, hypertension, Insulin dependent & pregnant and lactating mother.

MeasureTime frame
Cholesterol; Triglyceriods; HDL; ALT; AST; & urine albumin. Adverse events; drug compliance; dietary compliance. Timepoint: Adverse events; dietary compliance up to 28th weeks. Drug compliance at 4th, 8th ,12th , 20th & 24th week.

MeasureTime frame
Fasting and post prandial plasma glucose HBA1C Timepoint: Baseline at the end of one day run in period; once in two weeks up to 8th week and once in 4 weeks up to 20th week. Once in four weeks follow ups up to 28th week.
