Intervention1: colonoscopy: when the IAP is more than 30 mmgh ,colonoscopy decopression will be done ,repeated if the IAP recurres within 48 hrs. Control Intervention1: routine treatment: IV fluids ,

Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. All patients in the Surgical ICU who have had an emergency laparotomy a. for trauma or b. intra-abdominal sepsis 2. Pancreatitis patients in the Surgical ICU

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: • Age < 15years • Rectal, colonic and perianal surgeries • Trauma with perianal lacerations • Proximal diversion ileostomy • Hard impacted stool at the time of colonoscopy. • Bladder surgeries • Patients with abdominal wound dehiscence • Decompressive laprotomy and primary abdominal closure using mesh
