Brief summary

The project involves 26 women aged 50-70. Participants will be randomly assigned to groups using a random number generator (online). The study group (13 individuals) will undergo 10 whole-body cryotherapy treatments (one treatment per day, excluding Saturdays and Sundays), two urine tests for selected neurotransmitters (serotonin, dopamine, adrenaline, noradrenaline) at the beginning and end of the study, and psychological testing (three times: before the tests, after the tests, and two weeks after the last treatment). The control group (13 individuals) (without treatments) will undergo two urine tests for selected neurotransmitters (serotonin, dopamine, adrenaline, noradrenaline) at the beginning and end of the study, and psychological testing (three times: before the tests, after the tests, and two weeks after the last treatment). The selected tests will be administered by a psychologist. In order to ensure full anonymity and minimize social desirability bias, study participants will return the completed questionnaires in sealed, unmarked envelopes.

The full-body cryotherapy program will consist of a ten-session at the Malopolska Cryotherapy Center, al. Pokoju 82 in Krakow , to be administered once per day, with weekends excluded. The determination of eligibility for these treatments is made by the treating physician. The full-body cryotherapy program will consist of a ten-session at the Malopolska Cryotherapy Center, al. Pokoju 82 in Krakow , to be administered once per day, with weekends excluded. The determination of eligibility for these treatments is made by the treating physician. After qualifying for testing and ensuring there are no contraindications to whole-body cryotherapy (WBC), patients will be directed to the treatment. Participants will be introduced to the cryochamber wearing the following attire: shoes, thick socks, shorts, gloves, and a headgear. To acclimate their bodies to the low temperature, patients will spend 1.5 minutes in the main chamber on the first day, 2 minutes the next day, and then 3 minutes using the treatment methods. Participants will begin the preparation process for 30 seconds at a temperature of -60°C. The next stage of the process will involve participants moving to the main chamber, where the temperature is -120°C. Patients will be continuously monitored by the cryochamber operator. The implementation of a voice communication system will make it easier for the operator to notify participants when they leave the cryochamber. In an emergency, a button can be pressed to quickly open the door.
