Brief summary

This study will evaluate whether a pop-up “Heart Health Check” can be used to feasibly and acceptably screen adults in the Springfield community for previously unrecognised cardiometabolic risk. Adults aged 18 years and over who attend a pop-up screening session will complete a brief questionnaire and screening measures including glycated haemoglobin, blood pressure, body measurements, and liver health assessment using FibroScan, and will receive a printed summary of their results. Participants will also be invited to complete a brief online follow-up questionnaire 2 weeks later about any health-related actions they took after screening, how useful they found the screening, and any barriers to follow-up. The study is expected to provide early evidence about the feasibility and acceptability of this community screening model, the burden of cardiometabolic risk identified, and whether receiving personalised screening results prompts short-term follow-up action. It is hypothesised that the pop-up screening model will be feasible and acceptable and will identify a meaningful burden of previously unrecognised cardiometabolic risk in this community

Interventions

Adults from the Springfield community will undergo a single pop-up “Heart Health Check” screening visit involving a brief questionnaire and cardiometabolic screening assessments delivered by UQ researchers, including point-of-care HbA1c, blood pressure, anthropometry, and liver health assessment using FibroScan. The screening visit will take ~15min to complete. Screening findings will be communicated to participants as screening results only, together with a printed results summary and brief ver

Screening findings will be communicated to participants as screening results only, together with a printed results summary and brief verbal explanation, with recommendation to seek follow-up medical review where indicated. to determine feasibility of the screening process the following outcomes will be used: count of number eligible/ineligible, number consenting, number completing screening, missing data for each measure, screening duration, whether printed results were taken by participant at the end of screening Participants will also be invited to complete a brief online follow-up questionnaire approximately 2 weeks after screening to assess self-initiated health-related actions, perceived usefulness of the screening, and barriers to action.
