Brief summary

This study aims to evaluate breathing muscle strength, endurance, and muscle loss in adults with primary immunodeficiency. People with primary immunodeficiency often experience recurrent infections and reduced physical capacity, which may affect muscle function and daily activities. By comparing patients with healthy individuals, this study seeks to better understand muscle-related problems in this population. The results may help clinicians improve assessment and rehabilitation approaches for adults living with primary immunodeficiency.

Interventions

This is an observational, cross-sectional study. No experimental intervention or treatment is applied. Adult participants with primary immunodeficiency and healthy controls undergo a single assessment session. Respiratory muscle strength and endurance are assessed using standardized respiratory muscle testing devices. Skeletal muscle mass, muscle strength, physical performance, fatigue severity, and kinesiophobia are evaluated using validated measurement tools and questionnaires. All assessments

Inclusion criteria

Adults aged 18–65 years with a confirmed diagnosis of primary immunodeficiency who are clinically stable and able to cooperate with study assessments. Participants must provide written informed consent. Healthy control participants aged 18–65 years without known chronic disease and able to complete all assessments are also eligible.

Exclusion criteria

Presence of active infection at the time of assessment; musculoskeletal, neurological, or cardiovascular conditions that may limit exercise performance or interfere with study measurements; inability to cooperate with the assessments; cognitive impairment affecting questionnaire completion.
