Brief summary
The present study aimed compare the effects of an eight-week aerobic exercise and exergame program on prefrontal hemodynamic responses, as assessed by functional Near Infrared Spectroscopy, during single- and dual-task paradigms. We hypothesized that both intervention groups would demonstrate reduced task-induced oxygenated hemoglobin concentration following the intervention, reflecting enhanced neural efficiency.
Interventions
Intervention Arm: Exergaming (EG) Procedures & Equipment: Participants will engage in a non-immersive virtual reality program using the Nintendo Switch and the “Ring Fit Adventure” software. The exercise involves dynamic full-body movements, including jogging in place, manipulating the Ring-Con controller (pushing/pulling), and performing specific trunk movements triggered by visual and auditory cues from the game.Intensity Management: Exercise intensity is targeted at 50%–70% HRmax. Heart rate will be continuously monitored using a Polar heart rate monitor . Researchers will adjust the game's difficulty level in subsequent sessions if the participant’s heart rate falls outside the target 50%–70% range. The intervention will be delivered in supervised, one-on-one, face-to-face sessions, the sessions will be administered and supervised by trained physiotherapist. Adherence will be monitored using session attendance checklists.

Inclusion criteria
(1) age between 55 and 80 years, (2) the ability to walk independently, and (3) the ability to safely use a treadmill
Exclusion criteria
(1) a diagnosis of dementia based on a Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA) score of < 24, (2) moderate or significant depression, as assessed based on a score of >16 for the Beck Depression Inventory-Second Edition (BDI-II), (3) history of stroke, brain injury, or malignancy, psychiatric disorders, color blindness, and neurological or orthopedic conditions that could interfere with exercise
