Brief summary

Kidney injury is common after lung transplantation surgery. Most commonly a drug called noradrenaline is used to maintain blood pressure around the time of the operation. Other research has suggested a new drug called angiotensin II may be of benefit. In this study we aim to carry out research to determine whether a large study of angiotensin II in lung transplantation is feasible.

Interventions

A background infusion of angiotensin II delivered at a rate of 0-80mcg/hr (0-27ng/kg/min in participants 50-80kg), titrated to blood pressure at a range 70-90mmHg starting during anaesthesia by the anaesthetist for lung transplantation and continuing for 48 hours from the time of starting. Recorded on the electronic medical record.

Adult patients undergoing lung transplantation

Exclusion criteria

Pre-existing severe pulmonary hypertension Pre-existing renal replacement therapy Current inpatient with established AKI Other organ transplantation Known high angiotensin II receptor antibody levels (threshold 25IU/ml)
