Brief summary
The purpose of this study is to understand clinician’s and consumers’ views regarding benchmarking in general and whether and how they would like to see it applied in the Inflammatory Bowel Disease space. The dual aims will be to publish a paper that analyses and discusses the survey’s findings/responses, and ultimately, to use this information to implement safe and effective benchmarking to improve clinical care and patient outcomes in IBD. It will involve an online survey of consumers and clinicians working in IBD.
Interventions
The single online survey will be distributed in multiple ways across different settings nationally, e.g. platforms such as social media and IBD websites, providing QR codes and/or links to access the survey website.
Participants will involve consumers and clinicians involved in IBD. They will be asked to fill out one online survey that will take between five and fifteen minutes to complete. There will be no further monitoring or follow up required. The survey is anonymous and there will be no

Participants will involve consumers and clinicians involved in IBD. They will be asked to fill out one online survey that will take between five and fifteen minutes to complete. There will be no further monitoring or follow up required. The survey is anonymous and there will be no personal identifying information. Recruitment will be over a 3 month period at which time the study will be closed unless there are insufficient responses. Analysis and publication will then proceed. There will be no follow-up period. This is a one-off cross sectional survey of attitudes. Most of the survey questions will be the same for both clinicians and consumers. There will be a few questions specifically for clinicians to complete and a few questions specifically for consumers to complete. The information collected from participants will involve: - Perspectives on benchmarking in general as well as benchmarking in IBD - Thoughts on best ways to measures IBD disease activity (for clinicians) - Thoughts on of areas in IBD that need to be optimised (for consumers) - Perspectives on how best to implement benchmarking in IBD (eg who to measure, how to collect data and how to apply the information to improve care)

Inclusion criteria
Consumers will include people who have been diagnosed with Crohn’s Colitis, Ulcerative Colitis and/or another class of IBD. Clinicians will include doctors with involvement in patient care with IBD (eg Gastroenterologists, General Practitioners, Colorectal Surgeons) and allied health IBD clinicians (eg nurses, dieticians, psychologists, physiotherapists and pharmacists. It is also hoped that clinicians and consumers nationwide will complete the survey.
