Brief summary

This study aims to compare two common techniques to perform tibial nailing: supra patellar and semi-extended nailing. It will compare the recovery of each techniques using smart watch data as the primary outcome: walking distance and step count.

Interventions

Suprapatellar tibial nailing - the patient is positioned supine with a midline incision superior to the patella, the patella tendon is split to gain access to the tibial entry point for nailing. The tendon is repaired on closure. The frequency/durations will be 1x2 hour surgery, administered by an orthopaedic surgeons. Adherence to the intervention will be monitored by review of operation reports.
