Brief summary

Purpose of this study is to evaluate effectiveness of Triple antibiotic paste and Calcium hydroxide. Hypothesis: Triple antibiotic paste shows significant reduction in inter appointment pain in teeth with symptomatic apical periodontitis when compared with calcium hydroxide

COMPARISON OF TRIPLE ANTIBIOTIC PASTE AND CALCIUM HYDROXIDE Group 1: 100mg Calcium hydroxide mixed with normal saline Group 2: Ciprofloxacin 250mg, metronidazole 400mg and minocycline 100mg mixed in ratio 1;1;1 with normal saline Duration: 1 week Procedure and Mode of administration: Dentist will create access cavity will be created, canals located, working length will be determined and canals will be prepared. After proper cleaning and shaping, paste of medicaments will be placed inside the ca

After proper cleaning and shaping, paste of medicaments will be placed inside the canal with either absorbant paper points or a file. Pain will be evaluated after 48 and 72 hrs of intervention Medicament will be left inside canal for 1 week Entire procedure will be carried out at Watim dental hospital Patients will be recalled for the obturation and the effect of medicament will be assessed on that visit.

Inclusion criteria

1)Patients aged 18-45 years 2)Either gender 3)Requiring root canal treatment 4)Mandibular premolar teeth with symptomatic apical periodontits

Exclusion criteria

1)Teeth presenting with sinus, abscess and extra or intra oral swelling, teeth requiring retreatment, 2)Immunocompromised and mentally handicapped patients, 3)Allergy to the components of calcium hydroxide and TAP
