Brief summary
The average age of patients presenting for elective surgery is increasing. Frailty and cognitive impairment are two common conditions that can predict poor outcomes in surgery, however these conditions are not screened for. We are running a survey to explore what surgical doctors understand about frailty and cognitive impairment in surgical patients, and what the potential barriers and facilitators are to assessing patients for these conditions.
Interventions
This is a prospective survey of doctors working in a quaternary referral hospital, who are involved in assessment of older patients prior to surgery. This will be collected once and the survey takes 5-10 minutes to complete.

Inclusion criteria
Doctors working in units that assess older patients prior to procedures, at Austin Health.
Exclusion criteria
The survey is designed for the above group. Doctors in other units, and other health care staff, have not been invited to respond to this particular study.
