Brief summary

This study is evaluating the effectiveness of a brief mental health intervention delivered by GPs in primary care. It is comparing it to treatment as usual to see if it is effective.

Interventions

3 brief guided self help sessions (one hour total: one 30 minute & 2 fiften minute sessions) provided by GP in primary care setting, over a 5 week period, using cognitive behaviour therapy based treatment manual and self help booklets

Inclusion criteria

K-10 scores 35 or below, Age 18-65, no significant cognitive impairment, able to communicate in english, not suicidal in past 2 weeks

Exclusion criteria

Significant cognitive impairment, suicidal ideation in the past 2 weeks, unable to communicate in english
