Brief summary

The purpose of this study is to compare two surgical approaches to see which has the best muscle healing post-operatively.

Interventions

Patients will undergo total hip arthroplasty without the piriformis muscle being incised. This will take 1-2 hours.

Inclusion criteria

Patients undergoing total hip arthroplasty

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria are claustrophobia and fixed external rotation contractures.
