Inclusion criteria

Able to give informed consent, random glucose >200mg/dL, at least 16 teeth, chronic periodontitis.

Exclusion criteria

Pregnancy, requirement for antibiotic cover for dental treatment, anticoagulant therapy, other serious illness.
